| কিছুদিন আগে ভারতে হয়ে গেল থ্রিজি নেটওয়ার্কের নিলাম। এতে অংশগ্রহণকারী বেশকটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে ভারতি এয়ারটেলও থ্রিজি সার্ভিস পরিচালনার সুযোগ পেয়েছে। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, শিগগিরই ভারতে মোবাইল ব্যবহারকারীরা থ্রিজি নেটওয়ার্কিংয়ের সুবিধা পেতে যাচ্ছেন। গতকাল থ্রিজি নিয়ে ভারতী এয়ারটেলের কর্ণধার সুনীল মিত্তাল স্পষ্ট জানিয়ে দিয়েছেন, থ্রিজি সার্ভিস সস্তায় পাওয়া যাবে না। এজন্য একজন মোবাইল গ্রাহককে প্রতি মাসে নূ্যনতম হাজার রুপি খরচ করতে হতে পারে। কেননা নিলাম, লাইসেন্স ফি এবং ইনপুট খরচ মিলিয়ে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি প্রায় সাড়ে তিন হাজার কোটি রূপি খরচ করেছে। সংগত কারণেই শুরুতে থ্রিজি সার্ভিসের দাম কিছুটা বেশি হবে। উল্লেখ্য, ভারতি এয়ারটেল ১৩টি সার্কেলে থ্রিজি নেটওয়ার্কের লাইসেন্স পেয়েছে। পিটিআই। | ||||

Bangladesh Plans 3G Auction by August 2010
Bangladesh's Post and Telecommunications Minister has confirmed that the country will offer 3G licenses by the end of August, although the exact method allocating the licenses is still being worked out by the regulator.
"Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is formulating required guidelines which will set the process for awarding 3G licenses," Minister Razi Uddin Ahmed Raju told the Chinese Xinhua news agency. Although the details are still being worked out, an official confirmed that there would be at least four licenses made available.
The country has been promising to award 3G licenses since 2008, although political issues with the transition of the government was held responsible for most of the delay.
"It is estimated that there are over 6 million mobile internet users and already today 15 percent of the mobile handsets used in Bangladesh market are 3G enabled," Arun Bansal, managing director of the Ericsson Bangladesh said last May.
The country currently has six operators - and according to figures from the Mobile World, ended Q1 of this year with just over 55 million mobile subscribers - which is still a population penetration level of around 35%. Also worth noting is that while the country has six operators, only four of them are of any significant scale, Grameenphone (23.9m), Banglalink (14.2m) and Aktel (11.8m) and finally, Warid Telecom (2.9m). The two remaining long term incumbents, Citycell and Teletalk add up to 2.9 million customers between them.

India plans 'launch sale of 4G mobile services'
India plans to hold an auction of ultra-high-speed fourth-generation (4G) mobile phone spectrum soon after completion of 3G access now underway, a report said Wednesday.The sale for 4G, which will provide high-speed Internet connections, will begin as soon as operators roll out their 3G networks this year, Communications Minister A. Raja was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times newspaper.
The government expects to bring in at least 350 billion rupees (eight billion dollars) from the sell-off of 3G airwaves and a follow-on auction of broadband wireless access spectrum that began last Friday and could take weeks.
Operators believe 4G will bring near-broadband speed technology to mobile phones, allowing users to receive multimedia such as TV broadcasts and online games at rates up to 10 times faster than those possible on 3G networks.
"I do not want any delay in 4G services. We should be with the rest of the world in 4G," Raja said.
Germany on Monday began Europe's first auction of 4G frequencies.
Raja said he expected the successful telecom bidders for 3G frequency would start launching their new networks within a few weeks of receiving the spectrum when it is allocated in September.
The auction of 3G spectrum will propel India into the Internet era, giving millions who have no computer access the ability to surf the web from their phones.
It will also heat up the battle for customers in the world's fastest-growing mobile market.
